Direct Energy Regulated Services is regulated by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC). The AUC reviews the regulated rate for electricity. For more information, visit the AUC Website.

Direct Energy Regulated Services calculates the cost of electricity in advance of each month in accordance with the Regulated Rate Option Regulation. This Regulated Rate Option is made available to customers in the ATCO Electric service territory who have not chosen a retailer.

In Alberta, regulated electric rates can change from month to month. Supply and demand in the electricity market are the main determiners of what the regulated electricity rates will be. For the most up-to-date rates, head over to the Alberta Utilities Commission's website or refer to the schedule posted above.

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) provides regulatory oversight for utilities in Alberta, including electricity. As an independent agency, the AUC reviews and approves regulated rates and oversees the construction and decommissioning of electric facilities in Alberta . In addition, the AUC handles questions and issues that may arise with your regulated electricity service.

We provide electricity to a number of regions in north and east-central Alberta. To find out if we provide electricity to your region, refer to our complete list of electricity service areas.

If you don't sign up with a competitive electricity retailer and you live in one of our service areas, you will receive electric service from Direct Energy Regulated Services by default. You will not need to sign a contract.

If you want to change from a competitive electric retailer to Direct Energy Regulated Services, you can do so online. Click on "Sign Up for New Service" above, enter your address or Site ID number (you can find your Site ID on your current electricity bill) and follow the remaining prompts to sign up!
