About Direct Energy Regulated Services

Direct Energy Regulated Services is the regulated business unit of Direct Energy Marketing Limited.

Direct Energy Marketing Limited was founded in Alberta in 1985 as a producer-owned, wholesale gas marketing company. Fifteen years later, it was purchased by Centrica, a UK-based international leader in restructured energy markets. Centrica has 27.5 million customer relationships worldwide.

We're looking forward to joining the NRG family of brands. Learn more about Direct Energy's bright future with NRG Energy.

Direct Energy Marketing Limited is committed to Alberta and our more than one million residential and business customers. With 150 Alberta-based employees, we are proud to be a part of the community where we live and work. Through our new partnership with the United Way and our $500,000 donation, the new Direct Energy Emergency Fund provides emergency grants for Alberta families experiencing a financial crisis due to overdue or disconnected natural gas or electricity bills.

You have a choice when it comes to your energy supplier.

  1. You can remain on a regulated rate provided by Direct Energy Regulated Services, in which your rate may go up or down due to supply and demand, weather changes, and world events.
  2. You can choose an energy plan from an energy retailer, which may offer price stability by providing a fixed price for the length of your agreement.

Whether you choose to remain on the regulated rate or choose to purchase electricity or natural gas from a competitive retailer, ATCO Electric and/or ATCO Gas will continue to deliver electricity and/or natural gas to your home.
